Have you ever noticed that the times when you feel most scared you are usually alone? The only thing you want is someone you trust to be with you and then all of a sudden things don’t seem as scary anymore.
In our story this month, we’re joining Junior Asparagus and what he did when he got scared …
In October we are thinking about worshipping God by singing about him and singing to him. Sometimes songs just get stuck in our heads which is great when we are feeling scared or alone because we can remember that song and it will distract us and help us think about other things, especially when the words remind us of some thing more true than our fears!
We love this song by Saddleback church called Brave; we hope it gets stuck in your head too!
Wave hello! We miss seeing you all so much that we are working hard at trying to get to see you all.
Every month we will feature one of our families for you to hear from and learn about how they’ve been doing since we were last together.
Wave hello to Alesha and Josh!
Alesha: Over the last few months we have been to our Mummy and Daddys wedding at Galgorm. I was the flower girl and I had to put the petals on the floor in front of Mummy. Then my Uncle Tommy and Stef got married in Belfast. For my 8th birthday in September Mummy and Auntie Sarah took us all to Rosepark Farm and we swam in the Blue Lagoon. It was freezing!
Joshua: we went to a farm with our cousin Savannah. We went on a quad bike ride and met a black pig called Bobo. He was a greedy pig. At our Mummy and Daddys wedding I had to carry the rings on a cushion. Then our Uncle Tommy and Auntie Stef got married in Belfast last week. We stayed over in the hotel.
Each month we will go exploring together and wonder in God’s amazing creation.
In October we are wondering about the moon – have you seen any of our harvest moons?
The term “harvest moon” refers to the full, bright Moon that occurs closest to the start of autumn. The name dates from the time before electricity, when farmers depended on the Moon’s light to harvest their crops late into the night.
Imagine what it would have been like to use only the moon to light the darkness? Would you be able to go for a walk with only the moon to guide you? Sometimes we get used to so much light that we don’t know how to walk in the dark and we create fake lights to help us when we have an amazing creation called the moon that’s already high in the sky to help us.
That makes me think of our ordinary lives and how we sometimes don’t appreciate what we already have so we fill our lives with wanting more and more things to make us feel safe and happy. Nature is so full of newness and is there for us all the time – I wonder can you spot something new in nature this month?
